Some companies advertise safety as a priority. At Windstar Lines, safety is our top priority. In an effort to take safety to the next level, we have installed DriveCam video event data recorders in all 27 of our motorcoaches.

The DriveCam system identifies high-risk driving habits and reduces the frequency and severity of accidents and collisions. It is a highly commended training tool aimed for helping drivers handle vehicles in the safest manner possible. When a vehicle is driven in an unsafe manner, such as swerving or hard braking, the DriveCam event recorder captures a video of what the driver sees and hears. Our HindSight 20/20 software automates the process of downloading these video events to our server, where management views, analyzes and tracks driving performance. The system is set at the most sensitive setting so your driver will give you the safest and smoothest ride possible.

This system is the best available for our industry to be proactive about safety. By taking this proactive approach to safety, a company can save money on insurance premiums, and thus provide better service at competitive rates to the customers.

Windstar's Drivers

One of the reasons for our company’s success has been the high caliber of drivers we have been able to hire and retain.  Many factors come in to play when deciding whether or not to hire a potential driver candidate. 

Besides having a clean driving record and being able to safely operate a motorcoach, qualities that must be present are:  responsible, safety minded, friendly, and accommodating.  A driver can be trained on most of what it takes to operate a motorcoach, but without those core personality traits, a driver can just keep on looking.

Many of our drivers are semi-retired individuals who have a passion for travel and being around people.  Our drivers are former school teachers and principals, retired bankers, farmers and firefighters, and we even have drivers who formerly and currently have been the Mayor of their small Iowa hometown.  Our drivers are your neighbors, people you trust and respect.  There is not enough we can say about the character of our drivers.
